Located in the neighbourhood of Park Slope in Brooklyn, Shawn Fine Wine & Spirits was founded in 1970 by Patrick and John Fitzgerald, two immigrant brothers from Tralee in Co. Kerry, Ireland. From its humble beginnings on 7th Avenue “as a local liquor store or more accurately, a convenient front for IRA shenanigans”, Shawn’s has “transitioned into a wine-savvy magnet for the local professionals and artists moving into the neighborhood.”
General manager and chief wine buyer Shaun Lowecki has played a key role in helping Shawn Fine Wine & Spirits to adapt to the needs of the area’s new inhabitants. Thanks to his hard work and business savvy, Shawn’s has become Park Slope’s destination for first rate and affordable wines.
Connecting With Customers
Home to over 500 wines and an extensive collection of spirits, Shawn Fine Wine & Spirits has become a prime destination for wine connoisseurs. While they provide a delivery service in the district, general manager Shaun says that in-store experience is where they really thrive “we hold weekly wine-tasting events and our expert staff are always on-hand to help with whatever the customer needs. Whether you’re planning an event or searching for a special gift we do our best to assist in any way we can’.
Despite his efforts to attract customers to the store with events and excellent customer service, Shaun found that they were increasingly losing out on sales to online giants “despite having a website, we were virtually invisible online. When a customer searched for a product that we stocked they were being directed to the likes of Amazon and eBay.” With limited time and resources Shaun needed to find a cost-effective way to get his products online and ranking highly in search results – that’s when he discovered Pointy.
