6 Retailers’ New Years Resolutions To Stay Ahead

This holiday season customers spent about 628 billion dollars in brick and mortar stores. As the holiday season ends there is no better time for retailers to set goals and get ahead for the coming year.  Here are a few tips and tricks to get ahead!

1.Update your Social Media pages and Google Business Page

Add new photos that show off your store to your social media pages and Google Plus. Customers searching for your store want to see up to date descriptions and photos of your stores.  This helps them picture what your store is like and get a good feel for whether or not they would like to visit.

2. Ask customers to review your store

According to a survey by Zendesk, 88% of customers have been influenced by an online customer review when making a buying decision.” Ensure that you have review pages set up on Google My Business, Yelp and other local directories. Incentivise customers to leave reviews by offering loyalty points, gift cards, or discounts.

3. Get all your products online

With people spending so much of their time online it’s crucial for your store to have a robust web presence. Services like Pointy help you get all your products online automatically.   This will help inform customers what you have in your store. It will also get you brought up in Google search results by local customers searching for those products.  The best part is it is affordable for retailers and easy to set up!

4. Ask for customer feedback

One area where brick and mortar can dominate is quality of service and experience offered.  Create a survey form at the checkout counter or email out a survey using Google Forms or SurveyMonkey.  Any feedback can give you insights into why a customer may choose to not come back or let you know what you are doing right so you can expand on that.

5. Host events with other community businesses

Invite the local coffee shop or food truck to do a pop-up.  There is no better way to get your name out there in other networks. Customers that might shop or eat at one store might not know about yours.  These events create a fun buzz around your store and help get you connected to the community.
