Whole Health Pharmacy is an independent pharmacy located in Ottawa’s Glebe neighbourhood. Opened in June 2017, owner Renu Pillay says the pharmacy is still very much in the establishment phase. Renu, who’s a qualified pharmacist with over 30 years experience is using his unique product range and extensive knowledge of home health care to build a loyal customer base for Whole Health Pharmacy and make it an integral part of the Glebe community.
Renu says individualised service is one of the biggest factors that drives customers to his store “We pride ourselves on good customer service. There are several chain pharmacies in our neighbourhood but we see a lot of the same people coming in and out of our store each day. We offer expert advice and provide each customer with a highly personalised service. It’s these little extras that make us stand out from the chains.”
Using Unique Product Offering To Compete With Giants
Renu says that Whole Health Pharmacy’s unique product range plays a huge role in helping them to compete with big box pharmacies and e-commerce giants. However, one of the biggest challenges he faces is figuring out ways to let people know about the unique products that he stocks “A lot of people see our smaller storefront and get the impression that we only stock generic products and that they won’t be able to find what they are looking for in our store. One of our top priorities is to get the word out that we carry a unique and extensive range of products that can meet most customers needs”.
One product in particular that Renu wanted to advertise to customers was his selection of compression stockings. Unlike most retailers who only stock one generic brand of compression stockings, at Whole Health Pharmacy you’ll find around five or six different brands giving customers more choice in terms of size, colour and fit.
Renu, who is a certified compression stocking specialist wanted to find a simple way to advertise these products to customers via search engines like Google “I had set up a website with basic store information such as contact details and opening hours but didn’t have any easy way of displaying my products online. Pointy had the answer. I simply plugged in the device, continued scanning as normal and my products automatically appeared online. Now when a customer nearby is searching for a product that I stock, they’ll be directed to my store”.
