5-Minute Guide To Facebook Ads

With over 2 billion users around the world, including 70% of anybody over the age of 12, you’re guaranteed to be able to reach customers with Facebook. Your business is probably one of the 70 million businesses that have a Facebook page, but are you using Facebook’s paid advertising tool? Far fewer businesses (only 5 million) are even though 96% of marketers say it delivers better than any other platform.

You don’t need to be a marketer to take advantage of Facebook ads. This 5-minute guide will get you started running ads right from your phone.

 

For this guide, you’ll need:

  • Your smartphone with a photo of your store saved to your camera roll
  • A Facebook page for your business
  • A credit card for your ad

Download Facebook Ads Manager to your smartphone

It’s the app Facebook made just for ads. Download it here:

 

Open the app and log in to your Facebook account

As you probably know, your business page is connected to your personal page, so you have just one log in for both. Log in with this one.

 

Swipe through the welcome messages and tap “Get Started.”

That’ll take you to the home page

Click on your page’s name

Mine is “Mike’s Tool Shed.”

Tap “Create Ad”

Now let’s choose an objective for your ad

For this campaign, choose “Increase Your Reach.” This is a good first objective for Facebook advertising.

Now we can upload the photo of your store

Tap “Camera Roll”

Select your photo

Tap the arrow in the top right for “next”

Tap where it says “Text” and enter a short caption for your ad

Tap “Add new website” and enter your website address

People will go to it when they click your ad.

Scroll down to where it says “Call-To-Action Button” and tap “Get Directions”

This will add a button to your ad that shows people how to get to your store.

Tap the”next” arrow again in the top right corner

Here you can preview what your ad will look like.

If everything looks good, tap the “next” arrow

Don’t worry, you’ll be able to review everything one more time before you start the ad.

 

Now comes Audience targeting

Here, choose “People who like your page and their friends.” This is who your ad will be shown to—an easy, relevant mix.

Tap “next” again and we’ll set your ad’s budget

$5 per day will be a good start and will get you some exposure.

Scroll to the bottom, enter your card info, and tap “place order”

Congratulations, you’re on your way to getting your business found using the full power of Facebook! Facebook reviews ads before they run, so your ad won’t run immediately, but it should start running within a day or so. Once it starts, you’ll be able to see how it’s doing on the Ad Manager app’s home screen. So sit back, relax, and get ready to watch your ad’s performance!
